Stylized Dissolve FX
Project Overview
A base material shader that replaces Unity’s standard Lit material and adds a normalized dissolve parameter (0 to 1). Using Alpha Clip driven by a noise texture, it progressively hides fragments to make objects appear or disappear.
Technical Implementation
- Alpha Clipping & Textures: Utilizes noise textures to dictate the pattern of the dissolve, clipping fragments below the threshold.
- Emissive Edges: Automatically calculates the gradient at the clip boundary to inject customizable HDR emissive colors. This allows the same shader to simulate diverse elemental effects (burning ash, acid melting, magic teleportation) just by tweaking the edge colors.
- Performance: Designed to replace standard Lit materials on demanding meshes without introducing heavy branching or multi-pass overhead.
